participation in its design. Many letters and e-mails sent to County Council.
November 13, 2006 Meeting called by Gary Erenrich (DPWT) and held at Mid County Regional Office. Three
community members were present as well as the director and assistant director of the Mid County Regional Office.
We were presented with three drawings and informed that we could make comments, but that the design was going
forward for voting on by the T&E committee on November 27, and by the full Council on November 28. This was
the extent of the "community involvement".

improving the appearance.

favored the east side location, where the present garage is located.
April 26, 2006. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) held a public hearing in Rockville. (The
Glenmont Civic Association, Inc. did not receive official notice of meeting and only learned of the hearing a few days
before it occurred). At the hearing, six people, four of whom were county employees, spoke in favor of the west side
location, 10 spoke against the west side, and twenty seven favored putting the garage on the east side near the present
garage. Vote tally: 2 in favor, 37 against placing garage on west side.
December 12,2004 After not hearing from Montgomery county, or having additional meetings, Mr. Erenrich
(DPWT) was contacted to find out the status. He said that "the community has been heard" and the garage would be
on the east side. "No one wants it on the west side."
June 2002 Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT) held a meeting with several Glenmont
community members to discuss a second garage at the Glenmont Metro. Consensus of the group was that if a garage
were built, it should be on the east side of Georgia Avenue, where the current 1700 car garage is located. We were
told that additional meetings would be held.
